Do you have to manually set the pressure on Repose®?
No, ‘Smart Valve’ Technology in the pump automatically ensures Repose® inflates to the optimal pressure.

How should I clean Repose®?
Clean with soap and water and, if necessary, with a chlorine-based disinfectant (not phenol-based). The product should be dry before repackaging into the tube. Cleaning instructions are supplied with the product.

Can the product be repaired if it is punctured?
Puncture is an infrequent occurrence and is usually caused by pets. We have no evidence to support the use of Repose after repair and we therefore recommend that if the product is punctured, it should be replaced.

What is the fire resistance of the product?
Repose has been tested to conform with BS: 7175 Crib Test 5, (Methods of test for the ignitability of bedcovers and pillows by smouldering and flaming ignition sources) and 16 CFR Part 1632 Standard for the flammability of mattresses and mattress pads.

How do I inflate Repose®?

Inflation Diagram
1. Remove from the tube, refit to form a pump
2. Connect to the valve and begin inflating
3. Discontinue when you hear a backflow of air
4. An audible ‘click’ indicates correct inflation
5. Disconnect and cover with the solid end of the sealing cap
6. Check regularly, ‘top-up’ within two weeks

Should the Repose® Mattress Overlay be covered by a sheet?
It is not necessary; however, most patients find it comfortable and carers find it convenient to use a cotton sheet. If a sheet is used, it should be loosely fitted to ensure that “hammocking” does not occur.

What happens if the person requires CPR?
Repose® is a low-profile mattress overlay which contains no exposed metal or electrical elements and can be used safely during CPR.

How should Repose® be disposed of?
Repose® is a CE marked medical device. At the end of its useful life, it should be treated as healthcare waste and disposed of according to local healthcare waste guidelines. It may be incinerated with other healthcare waste.

Can the mattress overlay be used with electric under or over blankets?
Repose® has not been tested for use with electric blankets, therefore Repose® is not indicated for use with electric blankets.

Does a patient on Repose® still need to be turned?
In common with all pressure redistributing mattresses, carers should follow standard protocols for turning the patient whilst on a Repose® Mattress Overlay.

Is Repose® latex – free?
Yes. Repose® is latex – free and non – allergenic.

Is Repose® non-slip?
Whilst we do not claim that the Repose® cushion material is 'non-slip', it does have a certain degree of material ‘grip’, which provides some protection from slippage.

Is Repose® suitable for use on reclining beds?
Yes, Repose® Mattress Overlay is suitable for use on a profiling/reclining bed

Can Socks be worn with Repose® Foot Protector Plus?
Yes, there is not issue with this as the heel is being completely off-loaded.

Can Caresit be used on a riser recliner?
Repose® Care-Sit has been developed for use with static chairs and general-purpose wheel chairs. The straps on Repose® Care-Sit are not suitable and as the riser-recliner moves there is a risk of the patient slipping out of the chair.

What stage pressure damage is Repose® suitable for?
Repose® is suitable for the prevention and treatment of all stages of pressure damage for all patients at risk.

Can Pillowcases be used with cushion?
A pillowcase can be laid over the cushion; a slide risk assessment should be carried out.

Will cushions increase the risk of skin breaking down due to the buildup of moisture, i.e. when someone is particularly sweaty or any leak from incontinence?
We do not have any evidence showing that Repose® increases the risk of moisture damage. The Repose® cushion cover helps to wick away moisture from the surface of the skin. Alternatively, a pillowcase can be draped over the top of the cushion; a slide risk assessment should be considered in this case.

Is Repose® suitable for use on aeroplane/air ambulance?
Repose® is suitable for use in air ambulance. For higher altitudes, we recommend the products are inflated once full altitude is reached.

Can Repose® be used in a car?
Repose® is not indicated for us in a car. It hasn’t been tested to any of the relevant safety standards for use in a vehicle.

Is Repose® suitable for use with someone who has sensitive skin?
